Description of General Responsibilities

VCU Athletics is seeking an Employee & Student-Athlete Services Coordinator to apply customer service and human resources principles to manage and execute various responsibilities related to employee and student-athlete services.

These include:
• Managing the student-athlete grant-in-aid process, including book collection, refund disbursement, and reconciliation reports;
• Supporting the HR Director and providing assistance to the department in the Director’s absence;
• Facilitating the student-athlete housing process, as well as general on-boarding of incoming student-athletes; and
• Preparing and submitting requested periodic reports.

Required Qualifications

College degree, or an equivalent combination of professional level training and experience;

Familiarity with personnel, financial aid, and student accounting policies and procedures;

Ability to handle multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment;

Ability to work independently, to exercise judgment and make decisions; and

Exceptional written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills.

Preferred Qualifications

Advanced degree preferred;

PHR/SHRM-CP certification preferred;

Knowledge of NCAA rules and regulations, especially related to athletics grant-in-aid;

Experience working within higher education, preferably within an NCAA Division I Athletic Department;

Familiarity with Banner; and

Knowledge of and strong record of accuracy in word processing and database applications (Microsoft Office and FileMaker Pro).
