Description of the Job

Program Promotion, Public Relations, & Strategic Initiatives:
•Develop, implement, and monitor the effectiveness of the Residential Life and Housing marketing throughout the academic year
•Assist with the development of strategies to publicize and promote programs.
•Ensure effective communication through all platforms such as social media, print material and videos

Personnel Management:
•Supervise undergraduate Marketing Assistants in the production of promotional media, including: copywriting, copyediting, social media, graphics, photography, and videography
•Assist in the planning and implementation of marketing staff training and in-services
•Develop and manage individual staff work plans
•Create and approve staff work schedules/changes
•Schedule and co-facilitate interviews and evaluations.

Communication, Production, and Social Media:
•Support the efforts of the Assistant Director for Marketing & Communications in the management of the design and production process for all Residential Life and Housing marketing materials. Ensure all materials adhere to departmental, Division of Student Affairs, and University branding standards
•Ensure all marketing messages and activities are in keeping with the mission, vision, and values of Residential Life and Housing
•Ensure all marketing messages and activities are in keeping with professional content and visual standards.
•Ensure all promotional products adhere to University procurement and licensing policies
•Manage the production and timely placement of print advertising and digital display content
•Supervise implementation of website and social media content posts, including monthly analytics reports.
•Plan/implement Residential Life and Housing social media campaigns each semester

General Administration:
•Attend and actively participate in staff meetings, in-service education sessions, and other divisional or departmental meetings
•Participate in other Division of Student Affairs initiatives, programs, and committees as required
•Collaborate with other university departments in support of the university’s academic mission
•Assist in the overall operation of the department by providing input and completing assigned projects, annual goals and objectives, and annual reports
•Perform other duties as assigned by the Assistant Director for Marketing & Communications.

Required Qualifications

•Bachelor’s Degree in Public Relations, Communication, Business Marketing, or related field
•Acceptance into the Graduate Studies program at Virginia Commonwealth University
•Available to work a combination of weekday, evening, and/or weekend hours dependent upon program needs
•Strong organizational, problem solving, and planning skills

Preferred Qualifications

•Demonstrated strong written and verbal communication skills as evidenced by writing samples/portfolio of communication collateral
•Ability to work as part of a team and work independently
•Ability to complete assignments in a timely and orderly fashion
•Demonstrated knowledge of social media platforms, project management, Microsoft Office and Google Cloud Apps
