Description of General Responsibilities

Serves as the primary contact for students, staff, and faculty when calling the university’s RamSafe transportation service, providing effective and courteous customer service when answering calls, dispatching drivers, and handling concerns.

Collects and enters accurate information into appropriate software, to enable factual and precise tracking of statistics. When necessary maintains legible handwritten records, which conform to all established standards of the department.

Reviews data from all sources to assist in making recommendations for process improvements. Utilizes all procedures and resources to provide accurate, timely, and complete entries into all systems utilized.

Complete viable customer service training class.

Required Qualifications

Excellent oral and written communication skills to interact with both internal and external customers.

Ability to learn RideCell software systems. Communicating with sufficient clarity to be understood by others on the telephone, radio, or in-person.

Possessing the ability to handle multiple incidents simultaneously, set priorities and function well under stress.

Strong customer service skills and a professional attitude are required.

Must be MS Office proficient and able to operate a multi-line telephone.

Ability to resolve escalated customer driven issues. Possessing intermediate level typing skills.
Must be able to successfully pass a background check.

Must be able to work varied shifts and days; holidays and weekends required.

Ability to work in a diverse work environment.

Preferred Qualifications

Having knowledge of PTS’s policies and procedures helpful.

Considerable knowledge of VCU’s mission helpful.

Ability to effectively interact all levels of personnel.
