Description of General Responsibilities

The Financial Analyst assists in developing the budget and monitors spending in accordance with the state, university and School policies and procedures for the departments/units of the School. The incumbent analyzes financial activities and prepares financial reports and analytics. The incumbent will work with the Dean’s units to procure necessary equipment and supplies as well as identify funding issues through the review of expenditure variances against the budget. Incumbent serves as the Fixed Asset Custodian for the Administrative units of the Dean’s Office.

Required Qualifications

- Advanced knowledge of financial management and fundamental accounting principles and practices.
- General ledger experience.
- Familiarity with the Banner Finance system or other higher education enterprise resource package.
- Proficient in using Excel to extract and present financial data.
– Experience in budget development and budget management.
– Experience managing and reconciling financial transactions in a timely manner.
- Demonstrated ability to set priorities and work with minimal supervision.
- Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively and cooperatively in a large and complex organization.
Education: College degree in Accounting, Business Administration or related field.
- Experience in a busy office setting.
- Experience in a State institution or Higher Education setting.

Preferred Qualifications

Candidates should possess demonstrated analytical skills; ability to analyze financial transactions for trends and variances; ability to create ad hoc reports. Experience in budget development, expense forecasting, financial reconciliation, and the ability to interpret and apply complex government regulations will be strongly preferred
