Description of General Responsibilities

Provide fiscal support for the Office of the Vice Provost for VCU Life Sciences, with some administrative duties. Duties of routine to moderate complexity which include primary responsibility for ordering equipment and supplies, purchasing, preparation and tracking of requisitions and purchasing in accordance with VCU and departmental policies and procedures, preparation and tracking of travel authorizations and travel reimbursements and documents, oversight of fixed assets inventory and function as Fixed Assets Custodian, serving as primary timkeeper, and other related duties and functions.

Required Qualifications

1.Excellent oral and written communication skills.

2.Ability to work effectively in a fast-pace, high intensity environment.

3.Experience and competence with desktop computing, including minimal computer care and maintenance, Microsoft Office components.

4.Experience and competence with VCU Systems for purchasing, procurement and payment, travel authorization and reimbursement, and fixed assets, and timekeeping.

5.Competence in filing, file tracking, typing, and other basic office skills.

6.Competence in telephone/cellular/FAX/email/ other communication protocols.

7.Competence in organization and maintenance of office related paperwork and electronic files.

8.Experience and competence with basic accounting/fiscal practices, including some familiarity with the budgeting process.

9.Prefer college degree or relevant equivalent experience in an academic research setting.

10.Ability to work in a diverse environment is required.

Preferred Qualifications

- Experience with University and State systems preferred. eVA and Banner experience preferred.
- Minimum of 3 years of related work experience
