Mission or Goal of Unit

Our mission is to provide high-quality, cost-effective pathology services in a manner that supports the patient care, education, and research missions of the Virginia Commonwealth University Health System and School of Medicine.

Chief purpose of this position in support of above mission or goal

Provide academic leadership to the faculty of the Division of Cellular and Molecular Pathogenesis.

Position Responsibilities

The Department of Pathology at Virginia Commonwealth University School of Medicine invites applications from outstanding scientists who are qualified for a tenure-track faculty position at the level of Associate or Full Professor to Chair the Research Division of the Department of Pathology. The successful candidate will be expected to develop and maintain a rigorous externally-funded research program in cancer biology, broadly defined, to complement the basic and translational research activities in the Department of Pathology and the VCU Massey Cancer Center. Specifically, we seek a candidate to conduct research on examining the role of hormone/growth factor signaling and cross-talk in responsive tissues.

Required Qualifications

Degree requirements include PhD, MD, or MD/PhD. All applicants should have well recognized peer-reviewed publications and national funding. Demonstrated experience at mentoring and fostering a diverse faculty, staff, and student environment is required. Salary will be commensurate with the candidates’ experience and qualifications. Competitive startup funds will be provided.
