Position Summary and Qualifications

Mission or Goal of Unit

Our mission is to provide high-quality, cost effective Pathology services in a manner that supports the patient care, education, and research missions of the Virginia Commonwealth University Health System and School of Medicine.

Chief purpose of this position in support of above mission or goal

The Department of Pathology, Virginia Commonwealth University School of Medicine/VCU Health is seeking a full-time faculty member in the Division of Anatomic Pathology.

Position Responsibilities

Major responsibilities include sign out in surgical pathology including the breast/pulmonary subspecialty service. This individual will also instruct medical students and participate in the training of pathology residents and fellows.

Required Qualifications

MD degree with board certification in AP or AP/CP with special expertise or fellowship training in breast and /or pulmonary pathology.

Demonstrated experience working in and fostering a diverse faculty, staff, and student environment or commitment to do so as a faculty member at VCU.

Preferred Qualifications

The academic rank is commensurate with experience. Preference will be given to candidates with clinical experience and an interest and/or ability in research and scholarly activity as displayed through publication in professional journals and presentations at national meetings. Senior hires will have substantial clinical expertise and scholarly productivity to include grant funding or the potential to achieve grant funding.
